Abstract

 Aspiration of foreign bodies into the respiratory tract can occur at any age, but is most common in children under 3 years of age (Toddler). The best approach to prevent foreign body aspiration is through education of parents and caregivers, if the object can be removed quickly, it can prevent complications such as edema, inflammation, and the threat of infection. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Health Education on Health about First Aid Foreign Body Aspiration in Toddler Age Children on Mother's Knowledge at Posyandu Melati 2 Pinayungan Village, Karawang Regency. This type of research is a quasiexperimental design with One-group pre-post test design without control. The sample was selected using the proportional random sampling method on 40 respondents. Analysis of the data in this study using the Wilcoxon test, obtained a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.005) so that Ho is rejected, meaning that there is an effect of Health Education on Health about First Aid Foreign Body Aspiration in Toddler Children on Mother's Knowledge. The results showed that the knowledge of mothers before being given health education was mostly in the sufficient category (55%) then after being given health education some were in the good category (97.5%). Health education using power point slides, demonstrations, and distribution of leaflets greatly influences mothers' understanding of foreign body aspiration first aid.
